Big day today with the new website and the GdPicture.NET 8 release!

So, what are the major improvements in v8?

  • 100% AnyCPU and thread-safe SDK.
  • Full annotation support for PDF and images including sticky notes, free hand, rubber stamps, shapes and more…
  • Full managed PDF support (32 bit and 64 bit): Edit existing PDF, split & merge documents, swap pages, Edit pages, apply digital signature, uncrypt, add watermarks and barcodes etc…
  • Improvement of the autodeskew, autocrop and automatic document orientation detection engines.
  • Thread safe OCR engine that supports near 40 languages.
  • Improvement of the Imaging core that also provides a subtract background filter.

We’re happy to announce two new releases: GdPicture.NET 7.4 and our last plugin, GdPicture Form Processing-OMR and Template Recognition.

What’s new in GdPicture.NET 7.4?

  • Forms Processing features
  • lots of bug fixes
  • performance improvements
  • improvements of the TIFF format support

GdPicture Forms Processing Plugin Overview:

Template Recognition can help to align area to be processed by filters, OMR, OCR or barcode recognition. For example, if several documents are scanned of the same form, and the scanning orientation or quality is not guaranteed, the GdPicture Anchoring System can be used to specify the orientation of each document and the translation made to each document from the one where the user selected their Areas (surrounding rectangles).

Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) helps to detect the content of a checkbox, fill-in-area , multiple choice examination form, or any area where highlighting is required to indicate a certain choice.

GdPicture is proud to introduce the new Punch Hole Removal Filter! It’s fast and accurate and we hope that you will enjoy it.


What else is inside?

Some of the major improvements are:

  • full JBIG2 single and multiple page reading and writing support.
  • TWAIN functions to better control Auto-Scan feature and retrieve device info.
  • Toolkit is ready for clouding usage.
  • Some speed enhancement in image parsing & rendering.

There are new methods of the GdPictureImaging class including JBIG2, TWAIN, JPEG and more.

In the ThumbnailEx features we added a mouse events control.

Many reported bugs have been fixed.

What’s inside ?

  • New set of WIA scanning features.
  • Fast adaptive threshold algorithm.
  • New Gaussian filter.
  • New Unsharp Mask filter.
  • Improvement of the barcode recognition accuracy & speed (1D & 2D).
  • New set of features in the Thumbnail control.
  • Some speed improvement in toolkit core.
  • Support for FloodFill algorithm in any bit-depth including Alpha layer support…

And as usual, some reported bugs were fixed and there are lots of new methods of the GdPictureImaging class, as well as new property and methods of the ThumbnailEx class.
