What does end-of-life mean?

After July 1st 2012, we will no longer provide updates, security fixes or customer support for GdPicture 5 series.

What does this mean for your license?

According to our policies and license agreement, your license continue to work perpetually.
However, after July 1st 2012, we won’t be able to help with any customer support question or issue related to the software.

Upgrade to GdPicture.NET 8/9: Before August 1st 2012

You can upgrade your GdPicture 5 license to GdPicture.NET 8/9 by contacting us through our helpdesk plateform. Select “Submit a Support Ticket” and chose the “GdPicture Sales – Upgrades” department.

We are almost ready with the next major version of GdPicture.NET. So we are pleased to announce the availability of GdPicture.NET 9 Beta for May, 7th. 2012.

Making the GdPicture V9 implied some core re-factorization. Therefore, the Beta phase will approximately be 50 days long. GdPicture.NET 9 final version will be available for sales starting July 1st. 2012.

How to join the Beta program?

The Beta program will be limited to 50 users.

You can submit your request through our helpdesk platform located here. Click on “Submit a Support Ticket” and select the “GdPicture.NET 9 Beta Program” department. Just say “hi” on the message content, we will understand.

Then we will send you the needed information to evaluate the new version.

Major changes of the V9

The following list must be considered as a short overview of the new features. A complete list will be available soon.

• Core library re-factorization to reduce memory usage, increase speed, improve stability and avoid regression on minor & medium releases.
• Support for linearized PDF creation (Fast Web view mode).
• Full PDF transparency support, for PDF Viewing and PDF creation.
• Lot of new PDF features. IE: Digital signature with stamp, page drawing support, Bookmark reading & writing, page duplication…
• PDF rendering speed have been increased by 10 – 20%. With lower memory usage and better rendering quality.
• Speed improvement of the sophisticated document image processing (autodeskew, auto border removal, despeckle…)
• Major performance increasing on indexed bitmap processing. In term of memory usage and speed.
• Dramatically speed increasing in editable multipage tiff & gif handling.
• Better performance and accuracy for 1D and 2D barcode detection. With lots of new options.
• New PDF417 barcode recognition Plugin.
• New Document Imaging filters: noise removal, lines removal and Blob removal.
• Support for Framework 4.5.

Other features such as 2D barcode drawing, Post Script viewing  and more should be ready for the final V9 or for a medium V9 release. Work is in progress…

GdPicture.NET 8 now includes an ActiveX version which contains 100% of the ActiveX features and a lot more!

We recommend to V5 users to migrate to GdPicture.NET 8, the migration is easy!

I have a GdPicture ActiveX license: how can I upgrade to GdPicture.NET 8?

If you bought your ActiveX license after July 1^st 2011, we give you a coupon worth 80% of the price paid to buy a .NET license.

GdPicture.NET version 8.4 is now live and we added some exciting features: in the Viewer you will find a new Magnifier tool

Properties related to the Magnifier Tool in the GdViewer class are:

GdPicture.NET version 8.3 is now published and includes a new barcode recognition engine, and we know some of you were waiting for it:

GdPicture QR-Code Barcode Recognition Plugin for GdPicture.NET!

As usual it’s fast, accurate and easy to use, works in 32 bit & 64 bit version and with any Windows operating system from Windows 2000 to Windows 7. It’s also thread-safe and of course royalty-free.

Specific functionalities are:

• Detects QR-Code in more than 90 different image formats, including PDF.
• Detects multiple QR-Code barcodes from black & white, grayscale, palletized and color images.
• Returns the string value of each QR-Code barcode recognized.
• Returns the bounding box of each QR-Code barcode. -> top-left, top-right, bottom-left & bottom-right points.
• Returns the confidence of each QR-Code barcode.
• Returns the version of each QR-Code barcode.
• Detects QR-Code barcode on a full page or on a region of interest.

Maybe some of you noticed that our Helpdesk/Support Platform system looks a little different. Our goal is to achieve the best quality of service possible and we added a lot of new functionalities to improve interactivity with the users.

So what’s new on the Support Platform?

• Live Help Support

When our support team is online, you will now be able to reach our agents directly through a chat window. The window is available on the left hand side of our website.

• Instant Remote Control

Now our agents can interact directly with the user’s PC !

During a chat, you will be able to connect to the agent by downloading a small executable file from the support’s desk web server.Once successfully connected, the remote control session begins immediately.

• Customer Survey

When a chat session ends, you will be able to rate the conversation. This tool is very useful for us to see in which ways we need to improve our service.

Please note that the new Helpdesk/Support Platform is currently in the testing phase for two weeks.

This weekend we made some changes in our helpdesk platform to increase support reactivity from our staff. During the installation process, we encountered several issues: all our registered users received three different emails from GdPicture  (GdPicture.NET 8.0.3; GdPicture.NET 8.1 Has Been Released; GdPicture.NET 8.2 New Release). If you received these emails, please excuse us for the inconvenience, you were not supposed to get them.
