Hi Lana,

Thanks for your question.
We are considering implementing this. I cannot guarantee this will be implemented however our developers are actively looking to expand and support new file formats and the MSG file format has already been requested by some of our users.
This is currently not supported however I will let you know here when I have more news for you on this topic.

Regards

Hi I'm bumping this.
Currently, msgs are converted to pdf in pre-processor apps/utilities.
It would be great to see this as a feature.

Hi there,

Thank you for your suggestion and for bumping this.

This is on our to-do list. It would seem we are approaching a solution to this and we hope to be able to provide this in the upcoming month or so.
This is not a fixed eta however this is now being developed on our end.

I will let you know here when this is done.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi there,

As of a few minor releases ago we now support MSG as well as EML and HTML support.

Feel free to try this in our latest version.

Hi,

Whenever I attempt to load a file with the .msg extension, saved from outlook, it throws an error "UnsupportedFormat{67}". This is on the latest release 14.1.120.

Hi Mikeplacko,

Thank you for contacting us.

Regarding the .msg extension issue you are getting, please make sure you have an internet browser installed.
We have a section talking about how to install chrome portable and generally what you need to do in this section of our documentation:
https://www.gdpicture.com/formats-sdk/html/

If your issue persists please let me know.

Hugo Cudd

This message is appearing in the Docuvieware Viewer. Is MSG or EML supported there too?

Hi mikeplacko

Docuvieware methods are based on GdPicture internal engines. These engines now support both these formats so you should have no issues getting this in Docuvieware aswell.
Let me know after following my previous suggestions if you still experience any issues.

Hi Hugo,
I've noticed that loading MSG files can be very slow. Is there any way to try to speed it up?
Thanks,
Jacob

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for your feedback.

As this thread previously mixed Docuvieware and GdPicture I would ask if you experience this in Docuvieware or GdPicture please?
Perhaps this is only related to your files and we can make some improvements. Feel free to send us a sample and letting us know what you expect.

Hi Hugo,
Sorry about that! It's with GdPicture using your C# WinForm "Document Viewer" sample application.

I just added a sample of an outlook MSG file that opens in 3 seconds with Outlook, but takes almost 40 seconds in the sample Document Viewer.

Thanks,
Jacob

Jacob,

Thank you for this. I similarly experience slow times while replicating the behavior.

I'll let you know if anything can be done here after our devs have further investigated this.
