Tough Problem to find

I have been using gdpicture pro imaging sdk ver 5 for several years now, with little issues. Ive recently had the need to add some new functionality, I have 3 scanners setting on my desk. an Epson ft-s50, and a Xerox documate 3125. These work without issue.
I also have a documate 152. and this is where it goes down hill.
The very same program, crashes on the line
nImageID = Imaging1.TwainAcquireToGdPictureImage(Me.Handle)
This is a hard crash, and all I am getting is the studio has stopped responding in the host process.
I have this wrapped in a try catch block, but its not catching it. I also placed an unhandled exception block in my application events and its not catching.
any thoughts on how I can catch what is going on here so I can decipher why Im crashing?
