Why are there layers?

Post by paola222 » Fri Nov 18, 2022 2:28 am

Hello, forgive my English, I am French.

I'm writing here because I have no solution to a specific problem.
I need expert advice in pdf, for an important family matter.

I have been sent a pdf file containing a scan of a so-called original document
a note from a relative's will.

Having doubts about this document because of its content, I tried to take a closer look and analyze it to see if there could have been a manipulation or a digital editing.

looking at the metadata of the pdf, I could see that it was created via GdPicture Managed PDF Plugin.

That's why I ask the question here, hoping to find an answer.

-I exported all the images of the pdf document in question.
- I got 2 different layers.
-Each layer, containing pieces and sentences of the text very specific.

So I wonder, if the pdf has not been edited for unscrupulous purposes.
Or if it's just an automatic function of Acrobat, to make some parts of the text more readable than others by correcting levels or contrasts, for example.

Is it possible that layers are generated automatically,
selecting different text areas of the document when creating a pdf?

Do you think there was a voluntary manipulation?

What do you think these layers are for?

Thank you in advance,

Hugo

Hi Paola,

Thank you for your question.

Given what you have described, it would be impossible for me to tell without having the PDF on my end.

I would ask for the PDF if possible. If this is private you can create a ticket here and send it to us please:
https://orpalis.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I would then contact our developers regarding your question with the appropriate PDF.

Please provide a more accurate description of your issue as I am still struggling to understand the issue you are getting. You can do so by providing screenshot and you can send this description in French if it is more covenient for you.

Regards,
