SDK Overview
GdTwain ActiveX is an ActiveX TWAIN control that allows developers to easily acquire images from devices such as scanners, cameras and capture cards. GdTwain ActiveX can be used within any 32-bit or 64-bit Windows development environment that supports ActiveX components, including Visual Basic, REALbasic, Visual C++, Delphi, Visual FoxPro, PHP, ASP, MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, WinDev, PowerBuilder, .NET languages like C# and VB.NET, and many more. GdTwain ActiveX works with Microsoft Windows platforms from Win 98 to Win 7 (32 bit & 64 bit).
- Unicode Support
- Advanced image processing, including auto border removal and the ability to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation and gamma
- Acquire an image to a handle, file (including multi-page Tiff), the clipboard, a byte array, HBitmap, and StdPicture
- Support for 1-bit, 4-bit, 8-bit, 16-bit, 24-bit, 32-bit, 48-bit and 64-bit color depth
- OCR features: create searchable PDFs with encryption, convert images to text, perform character recognition on a specific area *
- 1D Barcode Recognition features: detect & read more than 20 industrial barcode type ** and read more than 20 industrial barcode type ***
- Use TWAIN capabilities to detect & read barcode symbols including Code 39/128/93, EAN-8/13, PostNet, PDF417, 2 of 5 Matrix and many others
- Image enhancement functions
- Convert from, and to, any color depth, from 1-bit to 64-bit
- Multiple color quantization and reduction algorithms
- Advanced text processing: add text with a semi transparency effect or draw rotated text
- Adjust the image resolution (DPI) of the twain device
- Define the capture area of the twain device
- Define the brightness and contrast of the twain device
- Enable / disable ADF feeder
- Enable / disable AutoScan mode
- Enable / disable duplex scanning
- Enable / disable Automatic Deskew
- Enable / disable Automatic Rotation
- Enable / disable Automatic Border Detection
- Enable / disable Automatic Brightness
- Select the twain device pixel type: B/W Color, Gray color, RGB color, CMYK color
- Provides high and low level API
- GdTwain ActiveX control uses the latest TWAIN 2.0 specification.

Unlike GdTWAIN Pro SDK (which can read and write files), the GdTWAIN ActiveX can only write files but not read files.

License price is the same for server- or desktop- deployment, we do not charge extra fee for server deployment.
Software license key will continue to be valid for all future 1.X versions of GdTwain ActiveX with free upgrades.
ActiveX licensing
Per developer licenses: This license type entitles the specified number of developer (1,2,3,4,5) within a single organization to write software with access to GdPicture Pro Imaging SDK.
Site license: This license entitles an unlimited number of developers in a single organization, at a single physical address, to write software with access to GdPicture Pro Imaging SDK.
