Example code producing large non-ocr'd results

Attempting to use the demo here (sample 4) to test creating multipage searchable PDF from existing image only pdf files.

a 1.5MB source PDF is outputting 14.5MB without any text.
I have gdpicture pro unlocked with our key, I also tried adding in an unlock of the tesseract with a demo key (since the ocr demo in the installer required unlocking tesseract separately) to see if that made it happier, but same result.

can you please point me in the direction of an example for VB that outputs text-searchable PDF from a non-text-searchable PDF Source.
