Installation in GAC (Global Assembly Cache)

Post by OliverSl » Wed May 11, 2011 5:03 pm

Hi,

we would like to install the GDPicture-components in the GAC. This works fine for the GdPicture.NET.dll, as it is strong name-signed.But it does not work for
GdPicture.NET.pdf.gdpdfplug.dll, as it is not strong name-signed. Are there plans to sign this dll as well, or to prepare this dll for al late-signing?

best regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

In GdPciture.NET 7 GdPicture.NET.pdf.gdpdfplug.dll can't be strongly named simply because it is not a .NET assembly but a flate core plugin.
So don't try to register it to the GAC, this should not work.

Anyway GdPicture.NET 8 will be delivered with a pure .NET AnyCPU assembly for the GdPicture.NET.pdf.gdpdfplug.dll lib.

Kind regards,

Loïc

Hi Loïc,

I downloaded the new GdPicture Vers. 8 and I found out, that the 2 files
GdPicture.NET.image.gdimgplug.dll and GdPicture.NET.pdf.gdpdfplug.dll still cannot be strong-name-signed.
Do you plan to change something here? We would like to put all the dlls in the gac!

best regards
Oliver

Hi,

GdPicture.NET.image.gdimgplug.dll is a c++ core dll so there is no way to put it in the GAC.
For the GdPicture.NET.pdf.gdpdfplug.dll, you are probably missing something. Just cross-check, GdPicture.NET 8 installer put it in the GAC.

Kind regards,

Loïc

Hi,

I think, I understand now. The file GdPicture.NET.pdf.gdpdfplug.dll is no longer needed in version 8, there is a new file
GdPicture.NET.PDF.Dll, and that one is installed in the GAC.

best regards,
Oliver
