Magnifier w/ non-proportional resolution

I have noticed that when viewing an image where the horizontal and vertical resolutions aren't the same (very common for images created from faxes), the image appears skewed in the magnifier. Is it possible to autocorrect for this? If not, is there a setting that we can use to determine what ratio (hRes/vRes) the magnifier should use?
