JPEG Compressed TIFFs
JPEG Compressed TIFFs
Would it be possible to include the option to compress TIF files with JPEG compression?
other software we currently use does not support LZW compression.

Re: JPEG Compressed TIFFs
OK!
I will add jpeg compression for TIFF files within GdPicture V 5.2

Re: JPEG Compressed TIFFs
Hi, Loic.
When v5.2 with JPEG compression for TIFF is expected?

Re: JPEG Compressed TIFFs
Thank you for the addition to being able to save the JPEG compressed TIFFs, but I have a couple more requests.
Can you add the ability to save them and customize the JPEG compression factor like a standard call to SaveAsJPEG?
Also I have these files that are JPEG compressed TIFFs generated by Kofax Ascent Capture. I recieve a response of UnknownImageFormat {13} from a call to the GetStat function after attempting open one of these images using the CreateImageFromFile Function.
Please let me know if I can be of any help.
Thanks again for all of your help.

Re: JPEG Compressed TIFFs
Hi Roger,
I am unabled to donwload your attached tiff images. Could you upload them again ?
The jpeg compression factor for the tiff format is fixed to 75 by LibTiff. However, I added a feature to be able to change this value into our wish list.

Any Luck with these Loïc?
Re: JPEG Compressed TIFFs
Hi Lokelo,
I examined your image and it is an JPEG-in-TIFF image that use an old jpeg compression format.
This compression format is called 6.0 JPEG encoded TIFF or OJPEG.
This format is no longer supported by the TIFF specifications.
I've already tried to integrate this compression into GdPicture with no success.
I suggest you to use valid jpeg compression format for tiff file or simply use jpeg file when you need to compress data as jpeg.

Loïc Carrère

Re: JPEG Compressed TIFFs
Well, that sucks. I agree though that the images should be compressed using a currently supported format. However, we are locked into Kofax Capture, and this is the image format that they use.
Is there any way that a more specific error could be returned from getStat, or even have a 0 value return from CreateImageFromFile function to help me catch this error?
I'm thinking of possibly either using another image lib to open and resave the image with the current tif standard, or just open and create another image in a memory only format to pass to GD Picture.
Would a DIB, GdiPlusImage, or HBitmap image be a better image type to use if i'm able to choose?
thanks again for your quick response and support on these issues.

Re: JPEG Compressed TIFFs
I think you will be happy
Finally I succeeded to load old jpeg compression in GdPicture.
I make other hard tests & I publish a fixed release ASAP.

Loïc
