PDF selectable text

Hello,

i would like to request a feature, that many others may want too. Opened PDFs are now flattened to images when opened by GdPicture, even if they were text. Now the OCR engine is added I thought maybe you consider adding feature to view and save PDF as selectable text.

This can improve productivity of document(invoice) processing application twice!

Please let me know if youre considering to add this feature.

Are you talking about searchable PDF generation from Image ?

This feature is already included into the last release.

See:

SaveAsPDFOCR() & PdfOCRCreateFromMultipageTIFF() methods.

Also : TwainPdfOCRStart(), TwainPdfOCRStop() & TwainAddGdPictureImageToPdfOCR() methods.

Hi Loic,

Excuse me if I wasn't clear, I am talking about PDF that already contains selectable text.
Selecting text in the Viewer like in Adobe Reader, or reading it programmatically. (Both would be just great)

Now there is a way:
open searchable PDF invoice --> flatten it to image --> OCR (loose accuracy) --> read data --> user double check --> correct --> process

Perfect will be:
open searchable PDF invoice --> read data --> user check --> process

This without OCR, because its not reliable/accurate enough to automatically recognize crucial data like customer id or invoice number.

This feature is already on our wish list for a long time.

Unfortunately we still haven't found a way to add it. I hope this will be done for the next year.
