What is redaction?
Redaction permanently removes sensitive information from documents — ensuring it can never be recovered or viewed again.
Originally used in legal contexts with physical documents (blacking out text with permanent ink), digital redaction applies the same principle to electronic files, especially PDFs. It permanently erases visible text, images, and graphics from your documents.
Critical difference: Unlike black rectangle annotations that simply hide content, true redaction burns the redaction mark into the document, making the underlying data completely irretrievable.
