Introducing .NET Code 3 | GdPicture

    Hi Everyone,

As you may know, the .NET framework is going to disappear in the next 2 years, with version 4.8 announced as the last(opens in a new tab).

Since 2016, .NET is being gradually replaced by .NET Core to create cross-platform web and desktop apps (you can learn more about the .NET roadmap here(opens in a new tab)).

Meanwhile, as we know it’s a feature that many of you (actually, all of us) are waiting for, we’ve been creating and/or migrating all our projects.

For the past 2 years, you could find .NET Core in:

And now, with version 14.1.31(opens in a new tab), native .NET Core 3 is available in both GdPicture.NET and DocuVieware.

.NET Core 3 support for GdPicture.NET is, like it is for Microsoft, on preview stage. This allows us to check the stability and see if everyone is having the desired results.

Therefore, we encourage you to try it, and to let us know if you encounter any issue.

We will then switch to the release stage as soon as Microsoft does it.The actual release is announced for September 2019(opens in a new tab).

There are many advantages to switch to .NET Core, and version 3 is highly interesting for:

    • Performance: speed has been dramatically enhanced, especially for server apps like DocuVieware
    • Overall stability
    • Support for modern compression and security handlers

Now, how does .NET Core 3 look in our SDK offer?

You now have 2 GdPicture.NET assemblies to choose from:

    • NET for .NET 4.6
    • NET for .NET Core 3

DocuVieware HTML 5 Viewer and Document Management Kit

ASP.NET Core 3* is only compatible with .NET Core 3 (and higher) assemblies.*This information has been known since October 2018(opens in a new tab), so you need to keep it in mind when developing with ASP.NET Core 3.

You will find our updated documentation here(opens in a new tab), and a full .NET Core 3 DocuVieware demo is available in the download package(opens in a new tab).

Are you planning on creating (or migrating) your apps on .NET Core 3?Our support team is here to help, so please do not hesitate to contact us(opens in a new tab)!

    Cheers!
