GdPicture.NET Document Imaging SDK Version 14 New Major Release

It has been a while since the first release, and we’re both proud and excited to share this major version with you.
Improvements of all major features (PDF, compression, document rendering, document conversion, barcode recognition, character recognition, document clean-up) and addition of brand new functionalities make GdPicture.NET v14 an even more robust, mature, and all-inclusive tool for WinForms, WPF and Web development.
Because time matters, our team has focused on enhancing the speed and accuracy of all the GdPicture.NET engines.

What’s new in GdPicture.NET v14?
General
The COM interop edition now also targets the .NET framework 4.0 and is now compatible with Windows XP and higher.
All GdPicture.NET 14.0 features are available on all supported .NET Frameworks, including Office Open Xml support.
Document Imaging
New class to handle fast document conversion, to quickly convert any supported format to PDF and TIFF, by handling every aspect of the conversion (color space, metadata, annotations, image, text…).
Ex.: DOCX to PDF with full layout retention and Unicode text support.
Image Processing
The accuracy of the AutoDeskew filter has been enhanced.
The accuracy of the blank page detection engine has been dramatically improved to better sort empty pages.
Viewer (new engine for the WinForms version with multiple page view mode)
Implementation of a new rendering model that dramatically improves the drawing speed of documents, especially for large bitmaps and indexed bitmaps, and displays multipage documents in a multiple page view mode.
OCR
The memory usage of the OCR engine has been improved as well as the PDF/OCR generation speed; the size of the produced files has been reduced.
The accuracy has been dramatically enhanced for some context such as low to medium resolution bitmap and very large bitmap.
Annotations
GdPicture.NET based applications can store comments within all formats supported by GdPicture.NET (more than 100) including PDF and TIFF.
Thanks to this new feature, these applications can offer collaborative document review as the participants can share information during the review process.
New open source project to convert Wang annotations to GdPicture annotations.
Formats
JPEG2000: the decoding engine is now up to 25% faster than GdPicture.NET 12.
JPEG: speed performances are increased for the 64-bit version (between 10 and 15%).
PNG: compression with predictors is now between 30 and 50 % faster.
DOCX: many improvements to the rendering engine including support for tables content and pictures.
RAW: improved RAW images loading speed and added support for more than 80 new cameras.
GdPicture.NET 14 is able to generate any supported PDF/A.
Many major improvements are available regarding parsing, writing, rendering, memory usage, and speed. Reading a complex PDF is now 5 times faster.
A new font generation engine supports subsetting of True Type fonts when writing PDF with Unicode content.
Many other improvements have been added: support for transfer functions to the PDF rasterizer, new CCITT filter decoder, support for adding a JPEG image without decoding/re-encoding the image, and more.
Barcoding
All barcode engines have been improved in terms of speed and accuracy of the coordinates retrieved.
1D barcode: 10% more barcodes recognized, 44% more patch codes recognized, and an overall speed increase of 14%.
Data Matrix: 15% more barcodes recognized.
PDF417: 14% more barcodes recognized and the engine is now 40% faster.
QR-Code: speed improvement: 18% faster than GdPicture12.
DocuVieware
We have also released a new major version of our HTML5 viewer and document management extension, DocuVieware.
Benefiting from the latest improvements in GdPicture.NET 14.0, a lot has been done in the inside of DocuVieware 3.0 at several levels to improve performance, memory footprint and, therefore, user experience.
